Whether you alter the
appearance of an ordinary grill or totally build a BBQ pit from
scratch you’re welcome to compete here.
Compete
for over $4,000.00 in Prize Money in the 3rd annual BBQ Pit
Build Off and Rib Cooking
Competition where all proceeds are donated to American Cancer
Society in Knox County.
The Monster BBQ Pit Build Off Competition was
primarily created for two reasons. The first and foremost
priority was to create an event in which the proceeds could be
dispersed and donated to a charitable organization in Knox
County. This year’s charity will be the
American Cancer Society in Knox County
with focus on breast cancer awareness and education.
For more information you can visit www.cancer.org
The second reason was to create an event in
which local companies could positively interact with the
community in an informal setting.
We also wanted to set this event apart from
other BBQ competitions. It was decided to have a two part
competition where the contestants would be judged not only on
the ribs but also on the actual design and construction of the
BBQ Cooking device. To compete here, you must alter the
appearance of an ordinary grill or totally build a BBQ pit from
scratch.

The contestants are definitely not limited to
corporate sponsorship. Many individuals love to BBQ.
Don’t shy away because you don’t have corporate sponsorship,
just put a team together and be creative.
Forming teams within a company instills
company pride as well as team spirit. Incorporating
company logos in the building process creatively catches the
public’s eye – a change from traditional advertising.
These aspects really show through on your BBQ Cooker and give
the community a creative flavor for your company and its
employees.
Open to the public Saturday June
26th 2010
This is a BBQ Cooking Competition as well as
a BBQ cooker building competition. The first and second year we
found it very difficult to offer the BBQ ribs for sale to the
public through the contestants. Most contestants are not set up
to offer food consistently throughout the day and handle money
transactions.
A new concept for 2010 is a "Rib
Sales Booth" for those contestants that don’t
want to deal with cash sales but would still like to get their
ribs to the public. The competition will set up a location
with a food warming oven in order to keep competition ribs at
holding temperature. We will be able to identify each
competitor’s ribs separately. If anyone wants to purchase
ribs from a certain contestant they will be able to do so until
sold out. The sales price will be uniform for all.
The contestants will have to option of donating the ribs for the
good of the charity or we will give sales money back less 25%
for handling fees. Contestants will be issued only three racks
for the competition but will be able to buy additional ribs at
cost if we know in advance. Contestants will still have
the opportunity to sell ribs at their station but it is at their
discretion. Rib Booth open at 1:00pm on
Saturday.

to our friends at the 12th Annual Farmstead Poker Run August
21st, 2010. Dick and Evonne Dailey have done so much over
the years for Knox County.
The sale of alcohol will be confined to the
beer garden which is inside the cooking event. Upon
arrival you must produce a photo ID verifying that you are of
age to consume alcohol to obtain an "Over 21" wrist band.

strictly prohibited.
